A customer of mine knocked his guitar off the stand and the D string tuner broke, nothing else fortunately.
I'd like to help him out and not have him have to purchase a whole set. Sooo, I was wondering if anyone here has a partial set of tuners and if they would be willing to part with one. If so, please PM me and we can work out the details.
The tuners are Gotoh 510's Gold with ebony buttons.
Thanks,
Jim

"I'd like to help him out and not have him have to purchase a whole set. "

If you can't come up with a single tuner, you could buy a set, sell him a tuner for 1/2 the price of the set, build a tenor guitar with 4 of the remaining tuners, and throw the last one in a drawer for future repairs. It's a bit complicated, but would save him a little money and give you another project to add to the list. bliss

Sounds about as close to a "win-win" as one could get in this situation.

It's usually nearly.... impossible to get a single, new tuner unless it's a Grover or Waverley and it's a warranty issue.

We run into this frequently, customer breaks a single tuner, no replacement is available so the only way forward is to buy an entire set.

Gotoh because they sell them customizable and already parted out may be an exception. Mike O. recently posted a link IIRC to where he was sourcing them making it likely worth a try to see if you can get a single. Maybe Mike will weigh-in or you can find the thread that he started very recently, last two weeks IIRC where he posted the link and then go from there.

You might want to try LMI or Stewmac to see if they have any returned/broken-in-shipment sets. I know it's a long shot but both companies are awesome with their customer service - if they can possibly help, they will. Good luck!

There is a guy on eBay who sells single 510s.

Never mind, I see that is exactly what you are looking for. Be aware there are several 510 designs. Small, large, screw hole in different positions. Etc. You might want to do some checking before you buy that one to be sure it's identical to what is on the guitar.

That all parts tuner is for 6 on a side. It might work, but again, you have to pay attention to sku code. So, OP, did you pick something?

So, I haven't ordered anything yet as I haven't found the exact replacement, but you have shown me some resources I didn't know about. I may need to buy a whole new set. This is for a Guitar I built 6 or 7 years ago.
I thought I would of contacted StewMac and LMI by now but I haven't had a chance. Thanks to everyone.

Which side does he need? My point was that Allparts sells single Gotoh tuning keys which are exactly what the OP needs.

Here's the treble side

Yeah, after I posted that I realized I was missing the point. The biggest issue is identifying the type: mini, large, and/or screw hole location. Perhaps button type too. Josh Gamell said he could order singles.
